Spelling the expensive word can be difficult for early readers so the lookup dictionary is provided to help and they are not required to spell the word just select the letters that appear in the word. While scoring a high number is the child’s goal the bigger objective is for him/her to expand their vocabulary. As the child learns the world they can be encouraged to try and play without using the dictionary. Particularly if they want to challenge the parent.
